Nice little beach for residents. I went on a hot day in October and it was packed, even though I couldn't see any rest rooms. There's a little dock for handicapped people in wheelchairs, which is really nice. The non-beach side is very scenic and pretty.
This is a fantastic beach on the bay side of Cape Cod. You need a parking pass to park in the beach’s lot - it’s not a public beach. It’s very easy to walk there from downtown Osterville. It is not frequently overcrowded, even at peak season.
Barnstable resident-only beach enforced summers until the late afternoon when lifeguards and staff depart. Decent sized beach and lot for a little neck of beach sticking into the Vineyard Sound. There are bathrooms and the ice cream trucks come frequently. The sand is soft and the water is usually warm and not particularly choppy although can have seaweed and tons of shells underfoot. As far as wildlife, people fish from the jetty and there are protected piping plover nesting areas, but no seals and therefore not a shark hotspot. This beach occasionally does get windy enough to need some protection from sand blowing in the air. Otherwise one of Barnstable's best beaches!
I love photographing families here. Sunset and dusk can be amazing, especially with low tide, to create some wonderful family portraits.
My first time at Dowses Beach , off season because it’s a resident only beach. It was beautiful! I’m a photographer so there lots to see and photograph.
A great private beach experience for locals. Dowses is my favorite beach as my wife and I were married here. :)
I love this beach. White sand and warm water in the summer. They have a pier for fishing.
ALL AROUND a great small beach. The Osprey nest high on the perch at the entrance is breathtaking. Babies are seen poking their heads out while mama bird goes for prey.
